Get involved in LEAPP... new living guidelines for pregnancy and postnatal care
From July 2023, new Living Evidence for Australian Pregnancy and Postnatal care (LEAPP) guidelines will be developed and updated with the latest research in near real-time. Over the next five years, these living guidelines will provide up-to-date, reliable recommendations and resources for healthcare professionals providing frontline care for women during and after pregnancy.
The LEAPP team will undertake continuous evidence surveillance to identify and rapidly synthesise emerging global research to inform national, evidence-based guidelines for the clinical care of healthy women (that is, women who don’t have identified pre-existing conditions or are at higher risk of complications such as in multiple pregnancy).
This cross-disciplinary collaboration is led by the Australian Living Evidence Consortium (based at Monash University and convened by Cochrane Australia), the Australian College of Midwives (ACM) and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG). It brings together leading experts from peak health organisations from across Australia, with membership now open to organisations that represent both healthcare professionals and consumers.
Cochrane Australia is part of the growing LEAPP collaboration that will be updating the existing Pregnancy Care Guidelines to reflect current evidence and best practice. We will be contributing to the development of new pregnancy and postnatal care living guidelines that will be continually updated over the next five years.
Why not get involved?
An Expressions of Interest (EOI) process is now open, with a call out to clinicians with a range of backgrounds, perspectives and lived experience to join the LEAPP Guideline Leadership Group and Pregnancy and Postnatal Panels.
Full details and an online EOI application form are now available on the LEAPP EOI webpage, with submissions closing at 5pm on Monday 26 June.
