Cochrane Australia delivers trusted evidence services, tailored training and methodological expertise to researchers, governments and guideline makers locally and globally.

Based at Monash University’s School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (SPHPM), we support over 3,000 local Cochrane contributors across the region including researchers, editors, authors, and methodologists.

As part of the Cochrane Collaboration’s global network of 40,000+ researchers and scientists across 130 countries, we’ve helped set the gold standard for trusted scientific evidence for over three decades.

Funded by the Australian Government through the National Health and Medical Research Council, we combine global expertise with local insight to:

  • Deliver comprehensive systematic review and evidence services through our Cochrane Evidence Synthesis Unit Australia

  • Provide specialised training in Cochrane systematic review and GRADE methods

  • Advance evidence-based healthcare through policy research and advocacy

  • Foster collaboration between Australian researchers and the global Cochrane network

  • Translate complex research into practical guidance for healthcare decision-makers

We’re also home to the Australian Living Evidence Collaboration (ALEC) – a world-first collaboration that brings together experts in evidence synthesis, guideline development and digital technologies to build a next generation system for delivering reliable, accessible, up-to-date evidence in health. Visit the ALEC website to find out more.

Through workshops, symposia, knowledge translation and ongoing community engagement, Cochrane Australia supports evidence-informed decision-making people, organisations and governments around Australia and beyond.
